JANUARY 1, 2026 PRESS RELEASE: THE ALLIANCE OF APPLIED MILITARY HISTORY MUSEUMS (THE ALLIANCE)

Effective January 1st, 2026, the Museum of Applied Military History Group has rebranded to The Alliance of Applied Military History Museums (The Alliance) and in doing so is now a not-for-profit corporation.

Originally established in 1977 by Gavin Watt and Doug Lawrence, the mission of the Alliance is, through the medium of living history, to build a framework and network of autonomous living history groups working together to promote and enhance the study and education of military history.

Each member unit retains its own identity and autonomy over its affairs but agrees to come together to promote the education of military history. Over the past 5 decades The Alliance has been bringing living history groups together participating in hundreds of public events.

Incorporation further establishes The Alliance in the community and will allow us to take advantage of various Government programs to enhance the organization and reach greater audiences. We are excited to deepen our relationships with community partners and build new connections with organizations that share our values.

Member Units Include:

·       5th Canadian Armoured Division, The Perth Regiment of Canada (WWII)

·       The First Special Service Force (WWII)

·       191st Rifle Division (WWII Soviet)

·       3rd Carpathian Rifle Division (WWII Polish)

·       14th Army (WWII British/Indian Army Far East)

·       5th Canadian Armoured Division, Royal Canadian Corps of Signals (WWII)
